Sony  and Microsoft   are about to release their next-generation gaming consoles on Nov. 15 and Nov. 22, respectively. The launch will be the biggest console launch in video game history, with PS4 and Xbox One game pre-orders having already reached 725,000 and 525,000 units, respectively. The PS4 is slightly cheaper at $399 than the Xbox One at $499, which is partially because the Xbox comes with a Kinect, Microsoft's gaming camera.

With the next-generation console launch coming up, GameStop will likely see a positive spike in sales. When this is paired with a continued rise in margins the near future looks bright for the video game store.  Expect a positive close to the year for GameStop and continued margin expansion as the company expands its mobile and digital business.

IPO ACTIVITY SURGES

Dans la quantité d'IPO (initial public offering) offerts , il y a des compagnies intéressantes comme WIX.


Wix.com , a freemium provider of web presence solutions to small businesses globally, plans to raise $119 million by offering 7.7 million shares at a price range of $14.50 to $16.50. At the midpoint of the proposed range, Wix.com would command a market value of $565 million. The company plans to list on the NASDAQ under the symbol WIX.

China’s PC juggernaut Lenovo might be the last desktop maker standing, so it makes sense that it buys BlackBerry, only insofar as both seem to be in an old tech business.

Lenovo with PCs and laptops, and BlackBerry quickly disappearing from the smart phone space after basically creating it in the mid-2000s.

Yang Yuanqing, chairman and chief executive officer of Lenovo said this weekend that the company was actively looking to get into mobile.  His remarks follow Chinese media reports that the company is in talks with Waterloo, Ontario-based BlackBerry to acquire the brand for around $5 billion.

Takaaki Sasaki n'était évidemment pas tout seul vendredi devant la boutique d'Apple du quartier huppé de Ginza pour le lancement de ce nouveau modèle, plus fin, plus léger, plus performant que le précédent. Comme lui des centaines de personnes s'étaient donné rendez-vous.

Si pour cette mise en vente mondiale qui a démarré à Sydney, avec de longues files d'attente aussi, l'enthousiasme est un peu moindre que pour l'arrivée des nouveaux iPhone il y a quelques semaines, au Japon des aficionados étaient quand même prêts à dormir sur le trottoir afin d'honorer la firme de feu Steve Jobs.

Finalement Takaaki Sasaki a réalisé son rêve: entrer le premier dans le «temple» et en ressortir avec l'objet du désir.

En le brandissant à la sortie devant une meute de journalistes et photographes, il en avait les larmes aux yeux. «Tant de miracles me sont arrivés cette année grâce à mes produits Apple», a-t-il confié.

Twitter vise une valorisation maximale de 10,9 milliards de dollars à l'occasion de son introduction en Bourse, moins ambitieuse que le montant de 15 milliards que certains analystes avaient évoqué.

Dans un prospectus amendé publié jeudi, le site de micro-blogging annonce son intention de vendre 70 millions d'actions à un prix compris entre 17 et 20 dollars, ce qui lui permettrait de lever entre 1,25 et 1,44 milliard de dollars.

Le prix devrait être fixé le 6 novembre, selon un document dont Reuters a pu prendre connaissance, dans quel cas la cotation pourrait débuter le 7 novembre.

Après l'offre publique de vente, 544.696.816 actions au total seront en circulation en comptant les titres détenus par les fondateurs, le management et les principaux actionnaires.

"C'est une estimation prudente et qui sera probablement revue à la hausse, au moins une fois si ce n'est deux, après le début des roadshows", juge Sam Hamadeh, de la société de recherche privée PrivCo, au sujet de la valorisation de Twitter.

"L'offre publique de vente est également un peu modeste par son ampleur, mais probablement qu'ils ne relèveront que le prix quand ils auront pris la mesure de la demande des investisseurs", ajoute-t-il.

L'IPO de Twitter sera la plus importante d'une société internet depuis celle de Facebook, qui avait connu des débuts difficiles sur le Nasdaq en mai 2012.   

Dans un communiqué, Corning, la société qui fabrique des verres spéciaux comme le Gorilla Glass ou des fibres optiques très flexibles, a annoncé avoir noué des partenariats stratégiques avec Samsung.
En résumé, ce partenariat qui comprend de nombreux aspects donne à Samsung 7,4% des actions de Corning. Corning dans la foulée obtient la pleine propriété d'une société qu'ils avaient en commun, Samsung Corning Precision Materials Co.
On retiendra en particulier qu'outre ces actions, Samsung et Corning ont signé un nouveau partenariat de 10 ans sur les dalles de verre dont sont recouverts les écrans LCD.

Samsung va donc obtenir un accès tout particulier aux produits de Corning, ce qui est certainement la chose la plus importante de cette information.

Moins de 24h après son lancement Mavericks représente, selon les derniers chiffres récoltés, déjà 7,66% du trafic des Mac sur Internet. C'est un résultat impressionnant auquel la gratuité de cette version a certainement participé.
On verra dans les prochaines semaines si son adoption sera massive sur le long terme. Il faudra particulièrement surveiller sa croissance au détriment de Snow Leopard. Ce système est certainement celui qui a le plus fait de résistance. 
En revanche, cette gratuité va certainement faire disparaître des écrans Lion et Mountain Lion très rapidement.

Playing the lottery is popular all over the world. It is huge in the United States and other nations, but now the United States will get to see just how big the lotto is in China as well. A company called 500.com Ltd. has filed its paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that will allow it to come public in an initial public offering (IPO).500.com claims to have had the largest market share in the online sports lottery in China in the first half of 2013, and it said it had the second largest market share in 2012 in terms of the purchase amount of sports lottery products.

The company says that it was among the first companies to provide online lottery services in China, and that it is one of the only two entities authorized by the Ministry of Finance to provide online lottery sales services on behalf of the China Sports Lottery Administration Center.The brand name is 500wan, which means “five million” in Chinese, and it is the typical amount of top prizes of most lottery products in China.

We would point out that the company’s IPO filing did show a decrease in the active accounts during some reported periods, and net revenue was listed as being down 26% from 2011 to 2012.

The offering is for up to $150 million, and 500.com plans to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the WBAI stock ticker. Deutsche Bank Securities has been hired as the bookrunner, and Piper Jaffray was listed also in the syndicate.

Voici de nouveaux chiffres, toujours invérifiables, sur la production d'iPhone. Selon NPD, Apple aurait poussé la production de l'iPhone 5S de 75% et baissé celle du 5C de 35%. Il semble donc qu'Apple n'aura pas de problèmes à écouler ses iPhone malgré le succès très mitigé du 5C. Ce manque de succès serait tout simplement lié au fait qu'Apple ait voulu faire un modèle moins cher alors que le public attendait un modèle réellement bon marché. Hélas, il est probablement trop tard pour réussir à coup de communication à redresser la barre. Pour tout le monde, ou presque, le 5C est l'équivalent d'un iPhone 5 avec du plastique, un produit nettement moins prestigieux que l'ancien 5 et surtout que le 5S.

Le géant coréen du pneu investit massivement aux Etats-Unis

Hankook Tire Co., le plus grand fabricant de pneumatiques de Corée du Sud, vient d’annoncer qu’il allait construire une gigantesque usine dans l’Etat du Tennessee afin de renforcer sa compétitivité sur le marché américain. Le groupe devrait dépenser 800 millions de dollars pour implanter sa première usine aux Etats-Unis, où il vend pour l’instant, à Chrysler, Ford ou encore General Motors, des pneus importés de ses autres sites de production. En 2012, Hankook avait vendu 15 millions de pneus dans le pays. Son nouveau site, qui devrait être inaugurée en 2016 près de Nashville et pourrait employer 1.800 personnes, produira jusqu’à 11 à 12 millions de pneus par an.

iMac pas (moins) cher

Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI securities published a research note that said Apple may be preparing a lower-cost iMac to combat slumping PC sales worldwide. Kuo is a friend of the Apple rumor mill because of the accuracy of his information so this isn’t something to immediately dismiss.

According to him, it should ship in Q2 or Q3 of 2014 and likely boost mac sales by 10 to 20 percent. Of course, lower-cost to Apple and lower-cost to consumers aren’t often the same thing. Apple has made it clear that it doesn’t want to be in the bargain space.

Kuo also laid out plans for a 12-inch MacBook that will “redefine laptop computing” that will be thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air and will run on an Intel  chip instead of an Apple A8 processor.

Finally, he said that the sixth-generation iPad will have 30 to 40 percent more pixels-per-inch than the current retina display. The fifth generation iPad is set to come to market this month.

Il s'agit d'une suspension pour pulvérisation nasale pour le traitement des allergies des voies respiratoires supérieures (rhinite allergique) de l'adulte et de l'enfant à partir de 2 ans.

' Nasacort est le premier et le seul médicament de sa catégorie à être disponible sans ordonnance et sera commercialisé par Chattem, Inc., la division Santé Grand Public de Sanofi aux États-Unis ' précise le groupe.

' Les personnes souffrant d'allergies bénéficieront de la mise à disposition d'une option thérapeutique supplémentaire qui conforte par ailleurs notre portefeuille Santé Grand Public. ' a déclaré Anne Whitaker, Président, Opérations Globales Amérique du Nord de Sanofi US.

If the U.S. Congress and the president cannot agree on terms under which the federal debt ceiling can be raised, the federal government likely would run out of cash by the end of the month. No cash and no authority to borrow means that the bills do not get paid and the U.S. becomes a deadbeat. Hard as it is to imagine that the world’s richest country could find itself unable to pay its debts or to fund its daily operations, the old advice of hoping for the best and preparing for the worst seems to be spot on.

Any sort of shock to the financial system typically boosts the price of gold. The yellow metal’s most recent high came in late August at more than $1,400 an ounce. Gold closed at around $1,275 last week and was up about $15 Monday morning. In early October 2012, gold was selling for nearly $1,800 an ounce. That is a drop of around 30% in 12 months.

The S&P 500 index has risen more than 18% in the past 12 months, much of that due to the cheap money the Fed has injected into the financial system with its asset-purchasing program. Investors searching for returns have turned to equities as the commodities markets have fallen and the U.S. dollar index, like gold, is virtually flat with its level of a year ago, after a brief spike in early July. The index was down about 0.5% after the first half hour of trading Monday morning.

If the federal debt ceiling is not raised by midnight October 17, the federal government loses its ability to borrow. We will not know what that will mean to global financial markets until it happens, but if enough banks refuse to accept U.S. Treasury securities as collateral for overnight lending, the result could be a lending crisis that freezes the global financial system. At that point, demand for gold may skyrocket.
