Nat gas

China has set a preliminary target of more than doubling natural gas consumption by 2015, where 90 billion m3 will be imported, said people with knowledge of the issue.
The country's natural gas consumption jumped 22.73% to 107.2 billion m3 in 2010, with 12.2 billion m3 purchased from overseas, according to consultancy C1Energy.
Domestic natural gas production has grown 13.74% annually over the past five years and is expected to remain between 13% and 15% in the next five years, which are well below the 25% yearly increase in consumption forecast for the same period.
Natural gas as a percentage of China's total energy consumption will shoot up to 8% by 2015 from currently 4%, according to CNPC, the parent of PetroChina Co PTR.nyse
