China to Unveil Solar Mobile Phones in Power-Strained Regions

Several Chinese phone makers are going to launch solar mobile phones in Central America, Caribbean and South Pacific nations in June. The phones costs $40 and can talk 15 minutes after being placed in the sun for 1 hour; it takes 8 hours to be fully charged. The names of the makers are not known. Some 700,000 people in those regions are expected to embrace the products. Globally, 680 million out of the 1.6 billion people suffering constant blackout need such phones.
