China's cement production grew 24% year on year to 150 million tons in August; output jumped 17% in the first eight months, Lv Guixin, head of the raw material division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said Sunday. He warned that, counting in the capacity currently under construction and pending approval for construction, the nation's cement production might top 2.8 billion tons, 1 billion in excess of demand. Fixed-asset investment in cement making expanded 66% to ¥100 billion during the eight months to August, much faster than in other industries.
